Okay... If eternal recurrence is a thing, I would like to be the "I" in this story next time.

Explain eternal recurrence. I've never heard this term before. I know I could Google it, but I'd rather talk about it

It's a thing Nietzche wrote about. It is basically the concept of reincarnation in a more clinical psychological context. It was a concept he used to give us a reason to have a moral compass in the trajectory of modern/humanist society, whereby our old traditions are going by the wayside.

So if God is dead(our old moral measuring stick if you will), and nihilism is detrimental to human progress, life, fulfillment, purpose etc. This concept gives us a barometer to weigh ourselves against. The idea is that if you were to die and have to re-live your life, would you be happy to do it? The majority of us are slaves to something, and we don't live up to our potential because we are scared of our shadows. Or we are "scared of the rocks that turn into wolves" ;), if you will.

If we are bound to have eternal recurrence, it gives us a reason to live out our fullest potential so that when we have to live it again, we aren't in hell again. I didn't Google it either; this was my recollection, and I could be interpreting it completely wrong.

So basically with this concept, I need to start living like the "I" in your story now to have it recur. I can't bet on reincarnating as the "I' in your story, I must go out there with my own tent and find the golden honey myself. But I used the term to make a unique comment, knowing it was kind of just a corny thing to say I guess hahah ;)

Amazing

I had an inkling that that's what it meant

I hope you do take your tent to the forest and find the honey hole and then endlessly repeat the high points of facing all your fears and meeting yourself!

Your story was class as fuck. I am glad I looked at your publication. I saw mycology and clicked and was not disappointed.

I have grown two large batches of my own psilocybes(enough to last a lifetime, lmao), and I look for mushrooms on my hikes, but I have not actually made the time to truly go hunting for real-well once, I guess.

When I was researching for my initial monotub, I became obsessed with reading about mycology for months. The second time I grew from spore print to agar to rye berries etc. Cultivating it was a better experience than doing the mushroom.

You are inspiring me to get back into it. Thank you for the encouragement and for letting me mansplain Nietzsche to you.

Thank you from the bottom of my mushroom loving heart for your words. I’m glad you clicked my way too.

Oh very cool, I haven’t ventured much into growing myself, more of a hunter. But I worked on a mushroom farm that had some secret psilocybe chambers among all the shiitake and oyster.

It is an easy topic to get obsessed with ;)
